Fundamentals
Fundamentals Tier: Premium on-demand courses offer a comprehensive foundation for effective use of Tenable's Nessus solution, and a knowledge retention exam. You can earn a digital badge and certificate of completion for completing these courses.
Introduction
Introduction Tier: Provides you with a guided tour of technical concepts required to implement and operate Tenable products through on-demand demonstrations and short-form video lectures. Available at no charge, Introduction courses are a recommended prerequisite for follow-on courses and are offered in Tenable University.
Specialist
Specialist Tier: Premium instructor-led courses focus on product deployment, configuration and operational usage. In addition to lectures, you can participate in a hands-on lab with exercises for practical application. These courses are recommended if you are seeking Specialist certification. You can also earn a certificate of attendance for completing these courses.
Expert
Expert Tier: Premium instructor-led courses build on Specialist instruction which are for practitioners seeking more in-depth product and best practices knowledge. In addition to lectures, you can participate in a hands-on lab with exercises for practical application. These courses are great preparation if you are seeking Expert certification.

Certification Basics
To obtain certification, you must purchase and pass both a written and a practical exam (sold separately). Certifications are valid for two years.
Recertification
Recertification is important to ensure you remain up-to-date with current technology and capabilities. To renew a certification, simply purchase and pass both the written and practical exams again.
Policies
Tenable uses a third-party vendor to proctor exams online, and each candidate must verify their identity with a government-issued photo ID. For more information, refer to this document.

FAQs
General Rules
In general, the following applies to all exams
- You must be alone in the room at all times.
- Your computer must be connected to a power source.
- No phones or headphones are allowed in the testing room.
- No dual monitor use allowed.
- You may not leave your seat during the written exam. One break will be permitted during the practical exam, with a maximum break time of 5 minutes.
- No talking is allowed, except to the proctor.
- Your webcam, speakers, and microphone must remain on throughout the test.
- The proctor must be able to see you for the duration of the test.
- Drinks are allowed.
- Scrap paper (single sheet of blank paper and a writing utensil) is allowed.
- This is a closed book exam, with some exceptions noted below:

Tenable constantly reviews exam questions to ensure relevance, technical accuracy and absence of ambiguity. If you believe a particular item is not valid, you may request an evaluation of that item within 4 (four) calendar days of taking an exam.
An exam development staff member will review your challenge and submit a response within 10 (ten) business days of the submission. The response will include either a result of the evaluation or, in the event more time is needed for evaluation, an estimate of when you can expect a decision. Once a decision has been made, it will be regarded as final and no further evaluation will occur.
To protect exam integrity, Tenable will not provide information on whether your answer was correct, the rationale for the decision or how your performance on that item may have affected your final score.
