Flowise Denial of Service

Synopsis

An Unauthenticated Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability exists in Flowise version 1.8.2 leading to a complete crash of the instance running a vulnerable version due to improper handling of user supplied input to the “/api/v1/get-upload-file” api endpoint.
 

Solution

At the time of this writing, Flowise maintainers have not provided a solution for this issue.
 

Disclosure Timeline

June 13, 2024 - Tenable requests security contact from vendor.
June 20, 2024 - Tenable second attempt to contact vendor
June 24, 2024 - Tenable uses GitHub repository private security feature to try notifying project team.
July 23, 2024 - Tenable third attempt to contact vendor for the vulnerability acknowledgement.
August 14, 2024 - Due to another Flowise issue being acknowledged, Tenable again requested acknowledgement.
August 27, 2024 - Tenable notifies vendor of publication.
