Atlassian JIRA < 7.2.0 XSS

medium Nessus Network Monitor Plugin ID 9741

Synopsis

The remote web server hosts an application that is vulnerable to a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) attack vector.

Description

The version of JIRA installed on the remote host is earlier than 7.2.0 and is affected by a flaw that allows a stored XSS attack. This flaw exists because the 'ViewWorkflowTransition.jsp' script does not validate input when handling usernames before returning it to users. This may allow an authenticated remote attacker to create a specially crafted request that would execute arbitrary script code in a user's browser session within the trust relationship between their browser and the server.

Solution

Update to JIRA version 7.2.0 or later.
